This year the club are supporting Movember.
Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health on a global scale, focusing on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. This year they have launched the ‘Hockey Challenge’, a community of all hockey clubs in the UK, that can share their fundraising journeys and compete to hit the highest fundraising totals.
We are encouraging all our members to help us with raising money and awareness for the charity over the next couple of months. The more money our members raise, the better the club performs in the hockey challenge.
There are currently 42 clubs confirmed as taking part in the Hockey Challenge, including almost every England Hockey Premier Division club!
England Hockey are also on board and will be releasing a news article of their own shortly.

Ways to get involved
Keep an eye out over the next few weeks for more events that the club are hosting, and ideas of how you can get involved. Here’s a few starting points:
Grow
Nice and simple to start off… grow a moustache for the month of November. Get your friends and family to sponsor you to do it.

Move
Set yourself a move goal throughout November and get sponsorship to motivate you to hit it. You can walk, run, swim, cycle, even kayak. It’s up to you. Don’t make it too easy though, push yourself to move more than you usually would.
We’re pulling together 30 days of movements if you just want to follow along with us, one per day.

Mo Your Own Way
If you don’t fancy growing a Mo, or moving around more, get creative! Think up your own way of raising money.

MoSisters
Movember isn’t just for guys – the club needs the support of the ladies and junior sections too!
Check out the Mo Sisters guide at this link for some ideas of how everyone can get involved. If you can’t grow a Mo, challenge yourself to Move or Mo Your Own Way instead.
We’ll be holding a competition for the best homemade moustache, so be adventurous and let your imagination take over. We’ll send more details on this as we go.
Movember Matchdays
The ladies’ and men’s 1st teams only have one home fixture during November, a double header against Hampstead & Westminster on Saturday 11th. The club will be hosting a Movember Matchday, raising funds and spreading awareness during those matches, with the ladies playing at 4:00pm and the men at 6:00pm.
If you can’t make it down to the club on that evening, just tune in on Bee TV instead. We’ll have Movember logos on the screen, and we’ll be playing Movember adverts during the half time breaks.
Contact us with your plans and ideas
If you are keen to get involved in raising money, let us know so we can shout about the great work our members are doing. Tag us in your social media posts and let us know how you’re going to be raising money. Email through your plans if you’d like us to help promote your fundraising activities, or if you have any suggestions that you’d like to see the club take on – [email protected]
Social Media
Throughout November we’ll be keeping everyone up to date with progress reports through the club social media platforms. We’d love to champion your efforts, so we’ll be sharing anything you tag us in to showcase the work our members are doing. We’ll also be posting the 30 daily movements for you to follow along with.
Making a donation
If you are keen to make a donation but would prefer not to fundraise, you can do this at the bar at Nottingham Hockey Centre. Just ask the bar staff to add a donation, either by cash or card, to your purchase. Alternatively, sponsor your friends within your team, as they fundraise throughout the month, or sponsor the team itself to support everyone’s efforts.
Keep track of how the club is doing
The Hockey Challenge Mo Space can be viewed online. Keep track of how we’re doing compared to the other Teams taking part:
