The club made a special presentation to Andy Smith for his tireless commitment to the club during his time as the club secretary and director.
Andy had been in the role since 2010 and stood down at the end of the 2019/20 season. We had hoped to make this presentation during the club annual dinner back in April but that did not take place for obvious reasons. The presentation took place on the pitch at half-time during the men’s 1st team Premier Division fixture against Durham on Sunday.
As well as his roles at Beeston, Andy also fulfilled the role as secretary and director at Nottingham Hockey Centre and helped organise a number of facility projects over the past ten years including the resurfacing of pitch 1, pitch 2 and pitch 3. Andy also worked with David and Graham Griffiths to help orchestrate the partnership with the University of Nottingham which led to the construction of Pitch 4.
The club wish Andy all the best for the future and look forward to seeing him around as much as his retirement allows!
