Beeston Hockey Club and Nottingham Trent University would like to invite representatives from sports clubs, schools, local authorities, higher education establishments, governing bodies and anyone with an interest in university exchange programmes.
Beeston Hockey Club and Nottingham Trent University, as part of a group of leading hockey clubs and universities, have been taking part in a study funded by the EU to make it possible for high level athletes to study abroad without having to sacrifice the level of sport they play at home.
The group of partners have researched and determined that the exchange programme for athletes right now is lacking and have come up with a pilot programme which we are expecting will become part of the new Erasmus programme, when it is renewed in 2020.

How did we get here?

  1. The group conducted research which found that the existing Erasmus exchange programme for high level athletes is insufficient as there is little to no recognition for the time a high level athlete who is also a university student has spent training and playing their sport at a detriment to their studies.
  2. The group studied the results and put together a pilot programme to see if the exchange programmes for high level athlete students can be reformed accommodate high-level, student athletes.

This programme is not just limited to hockey and will be applicable to all sports should the project be successful.
