BEESTON Men’s and Ladies 1st teams are buzzing in the England Hockey Cup this year. So far this season the men’s 1st XI and ladies 1st XI are both through to the quarter finals of their respective England Hockey cup competitions.
The cup holders, the men’s 1st XI, received a bye in the first round and edged past Doncaster 3-2 in the second round. The over came Holcombe last Sunday in a thriller which ended 3-3. The Bees won the match 4-3 after an exciting penalty shootout.

The ladies played Bedford away in round 1 in a tight game which finished 1-1. The Bees won the game 4-1 in a penalty shootout. In round 2 they faced Sutton Coldfield and again drew 1-1, but edged in to round 3 after winning on penalties 3-2. They travelled to Team Bath Buccaneers in the next round and a solid performance saw them win 3-0 away from home to progress to the quarter finals.
The men will face either Reading or Guernsey on the 5th February at Nottingham Hockey Centre and the ladies meet the team who are currently top of the Investec East Conference, Sevenoaks, on the 12th February also at home.
