Ali is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist who knows hockey from the inside: physio to Beeston's Men's 1st XI from 2014 to 2019, support for the Welsh international women's side, and a national premier league defender in her university days.
She qualified from Sheffield Hallam University in 2011 and spent 14 years in the NHS, becoming a clinical specialist in musculoskeletal therapy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, specialising in the lower limb and rehabilitation, before setting up Nayls Physiotherapy. She also coaches CrossFit and Hyrox, is a Level 2 British Weightlifting Coach, and has led the physiotherapy team on the London Marathon finish line.
