This seasons ‘Beeston Story’ played an ugly chapter last weekend with both the men’s and ladies 1st teams suffering their first defeats of the season.
Although disappointed with the results Beeston’s men’s 1st team head coach, Woody, was still upbeat about the Bees fantastic start to the season.
“Last Sunday’s game at East Grinstead was a tale of 2 halves. We played some really good hockey in the first half and Tom Sorsby managed to put us ahead with a super goal. In the second half, we didn’t create the opportunities to get another goal and we allowed East Grinstead back in to the game. However, we are a third of the way through the league season and we are top of the league – Not many people would have predicted that over the summer.”
The Bees have a break from the league this weekend and turn to the England Hockey Cup. Beeston travel to Doncaster Town Fields Sports Club (DN2 6AA) this Sunday in the England Hockey Cup Round 2 to face Doncaster HC. The fixture starts are 2pm.
