England Hockey Men’s Premier League

Beeston 1 – 0 Hampstead and Westminster
Nottingham Hockey Centre, 6th November.
The Ryley Wealth Management Man of the Match, Simon Hujwan, was superb in the Beeston net this Sunday at Nottingham Hockey Centre as the Bees took all 3 points against Hampstead and Westminster.
It was one just one goal that separated the FHP Bees and travellers, Hampstead and Westminster, this Sunday at Nottingham Hockey Centre.
With 4 Beeston players away on international duty in Malaysia representing England U21 in the Sultan of Johor Cup, the Bees were had their backs against the wall against a strong and hungry Hampstead squad.
Hampstead applied pressure throughout the game but didn’t manage to break through the Beeston defence.
In the 25th minute England U18 Gareth Griffiths weaved his way around the Hampstead defence and connected with Great Britain international, Mark Gleghorne, who calmly slotted the only goal of the game past David Kettle in the Hampstead net.
Hampstead and Westminster denied the Bees of a penalty corner but the story was different at the other end of the pitch. Hampstead won 9 corners against the Bees but goalkeeper Simon Hujwan was on top form and pulled off a number of superb saves to lead the Bees to 3 points.
Speaking after the game the Ryley Wealth Management Man of the Match said, “It was a very hard game and we had to defend for long periods, we struggled at times but managed to hold strong in defence and in the end got the result.”
Simon was presented with the magnum of the champagne from fellow defender Julius Nagel.

The FHP Bees travel to Surbiton next Saturday to face Surbiton before next Sunday’s England Hockey Cup Round 3 clash with Kent giants, Holcombe at 12:30pm at Nottingham Hockey Centre.
