Following the recent twinning between Beeston HC and HC Rotterdam, the club’s board of directors have agreed to exchange the men’s and ladies’ 1st XI squads for the 2017/18 season.
Beeston men’s 1st team will play for HC Rotterdam in the Hoofdklasse and the HC Rotterdam players will be looking to build on this years performance with Beeston and qualify for the EuroHockey League once again.
The Beeston Ladies’ 1st team will be looking for promotion for HC Rotterdam in to the Hoofdklasse as will the Rotterdam ladies’ 1st team representing Beeston looking for a place in the England Hockey Investec Women’s Premier League.
The exchange has been relatively straight forward to put together and players will be moving in to their respective team member’s houses correlating to their shirt numbers. The exchange is due to take place after European Championships this August. Both sets of men’s and ladies’ squads travel to Spain for preseason preparations before then heading back to England and the Netherlands to start their league campaigns.
England Hockey’s competitions manager, Stephen Barlow, commented, “This is an unprecedented move by the two clubs and their legal teams have been working hard to make this happen. We have been over the league rules here in England and with my counterparts at the KNHB, the proposal from the two clubs is fair and within the regulations for England Hockey.”
