BEESTON moved back in to a play-off position this Sunday in a hard fought battle against Loughborough Students.
The Beeston squad was reduced to 15 men in the 4th minute when James Albery pulled up with a hamstring problem. The Bees took the lead in the 20th minute when Richard Lawrence rifled home a penalty corner flick. The battle continued in freezing cold weather in front of a partisan home crowd and the Bees went in to half-time with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half the Bees were awarded a two penalty corners but were unable to convert.
England schoolboy international and 17 year old striker, Gareth Griffiths, doubled the Bees lead in the 56th minute of the match after finishing from a tight angle.
Loughborough thought they had pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go but the goal was disallowed after a magnificent joint umpiring decision from Matt Harrison and Lee Barron.
