The FHP Bees flew in to top spot of the Men’s Premier League on Sunday with a convincing 5 – 2 win against travelling side, Canterbury.

Mark Gleghorne was on fire once again for the Bees and netted another 3 goals to take his season tally to 11 after 5 matches.

Canterbury opened the scoring through former Bee and Australian International, Craig Boyne in the 13th minute. Beeston leveled the score line in the 19th minute with a superb strike from Richard Lawrence.

The Bees took the lead in the 32nd minute with a powerful penalty corner flick from Rio Olympian, Mark Gleghorne. The Bees returned to the dressing room at half-time carrying a 2-1 lead.

In the second half Beeston extended their lead in the 41st minute with another Gleghorne penalty corner flick in to the roof of the net. Canterbury pulled a goal back on the hour with a spectacular finish from Craig Boyne.

The Bees stretched their lead back to two goals within 30 seconds of the restart as Mark Gleghorne tapped in an open play goal to complete his hat-trick. There was still time for Great Britain International, Ollie Willars, to get his name on the scoresheet with a fine reverse stick strike in the 66th minute.

This weeks ‘Ryley Wealth Management Man of the Match’, Mark Gleghorne, commented, “Another pleasing result for the club again today. The lads have been working extremely hard at training and that effort is paying off on the pitch. We have a young, talented squad who are playing some fantastic attacking hockey. Special thanks to matchday sponsors, Sandicliffe Ford for all their support this season ”

The Bees are on the road next Sunday as they travel to Saint Hill to face East Grinstead at 2pm.
