The Whirlowdale Bees maintained their pressure on Brooklands Poynton at the top of the England Hockey Investec North Conference with a convincing win away at Timperley.

The Bees took the lead in the 29th minute through top goal scorer Sophie Robinson. The Bees doubled their lead in the same minute through Argentinian, Rosario Villagra, scoring her first goal for the club.

Robinson was on back on the scoresheet in the 32nd minute and the Bees went in to half-time 0-3 up.

Beeston youngsters, Paige Gilliott and Alice Huddlestone, sealed the win for the Bees as Gilliott fired the Bees in to a 0-4 lead in the 42nd minute with a penalty corner and Huddlestone scored an open play goal in the 66th minute of the game.

Beeston’s Rosario Villagra, commented, “The squad have worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks at training. Playing away from home is never easy but we put in a good performance today and we were pleased with the result. We’re looking forward to next Saturday’s short trip and local derby at Belper HC and then returning home for the EH Cup quarter final against Sevenoaks.”
