Over the weekend of 7th and 8th September, the club hosted the annual Preseason Tournament, with 28 teams from across England and Scotland taking part. Whilst the weather was not as good as it had been in previous years, the standard of hockey across the board was very strong once again.
Russell Scanlan sponsored the event once again. Huge thanks to them for their continued support of the tournament.

The 16 team entries into the women’s competition were split into two divisions of eight, playing each other once across the weekend within their divisions.
In Division 1, Reading finished top of the table, 3 points ahead of Beeston.
Division 2 saw a tight battle at the top with University of Nottingham 2s, Uddingston and Beeston 2s each in with a chance of topping the table going into the final game. University of Nottingham beat Beeston in that final game to take the title.
Due to the number of team entries in the men’s competition, games were played in two pools of six teams, with crossover games to finish the weekend. In the 1st v 1st final, Beeston beat University of Nottingham 2-1.
A big thanks also to Oscar Newton and his army of umpires for their time and effort across the weekend, ensuring umpires were appointed to almost 100 fixtures, and to Andy Day for his expert spreadsheet building, results collection and timekeeping.
