Beeston HC 1-2 Oxted

In a closely contested match between Beeston Hockey Club and Oxted, it was Oxted who came away with a 2-1 victory at the end of the 4 quarters of 17 and a half minutes each.

The game got off to a fiery start, with Oxted’s Jonathan Lankfer scoring a field goal in the 11th minute to put Oxted in the lead. Chris Porter of Oxted was shown a green card in the 18th minute, giving Beeston a man advantage for a few minutes. However, Beeston was unable to capitalise on this, and the first quarter ended with the score at Beeston 0 – 1 Oxted.

In the second quarter, Oxted’s Alex Blumfield scored a deflection field goal in the 32nd minute to extend Oxted’s lead. However, Joshua Birtles of Oxted was shown a green card in the 35th minute, giving Beeston another opportunity to score. Beeston took advantage of this and Robbie Gleeson scored a penalty corner goal just before the end of the half, making the half time score Beeston 1 – 2 Oxted.

The third quarter was a closely fought affair, with neither team able to add to their tally. Jamie Batten of Oxted was shown a green card in the 45th minute, but once again, Beeston was unable to capitalise on the man advantage.

The fourth and final quarter was tense, with both teams giving their all. Beeston was awarded 11 penalty corners compared to Oxted’s 2, but they were unable to convert any of them. The game ended with the score at Beeston 1 – 2 Oxted, with Oxted taking home the victory.

Beeston’s next match will be against the University of Nottingham, which will be played at home at 12 pm. The team will be looking to bounce back from this defeat and secure a victory in their next game.
