Beeston men’s 1st team are set to face the Malaysian National team on Friday 1st October at 7pm in an international themed spectacle! Malaysia, ranked 11th in the world, start their tour of the UK and Ireland next week.
Entry to the game is free of charge so come down and watch some international hockey at Nottingham Hockey Centre.
The event will be attended by Nottingham Belong, a charity which provides support to migrants who are living in Nottingham. Belong formed a formal partnership with Beeston Hockey club earlier in the year to unite communities through sport. These families will be providing international cuisine from the a variety of different countries and cultures, including the Caribbean, Latin America, Pakistan, Sudan, Poland, the Congo and many more! This will be free of charge, though we would welcome donations from attendees to support the brilliant work they do in our community.
There will also be the opportunity to win prizes on the international-themed, pitchside activity station, next to the catering stand. Music for the evening will be along an international theme, selected by the Belong Nottingham families.
The bar in the clubhouse will also be open serving the usual selection of beers, wines and spirits.
Beeston first team manager, Graham Griffiths, commented, “We have a bye in the Premier Division on this weekend and this is perfect preparation for the northern derby against Brooklands the following week. We have strong links with Malaysia and look forward to wishing them a warm welcome to Nottingham. We also look forward to welcoming the staff and families from the Nottingham Belong community, with their support I’ve no doubt it’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere!”
The event and Bees Belong programme is supported by Active Notts and Sport England.
If you are unable to make it to the club, the game will be live streamed on Bee TV here.
