The club is incredibly proud to announce that we have formed a formal partnership with local charity, Belong Nottingham, who support migrant families to settle into their local community. There is no better way of uniting communities than through sport – and Belong Nottingham shares our belief.
In June 2021, Beeston HC hosted an exhibition event, where Belong’s families experienced their first taste of hockey through training with our fantastic volunteers on a sunny Friday evening. The families then joined us to enjoy watching some local summer league hockey from the balcony at the clubhouse.

Sport… has the power to unite people in a way that little else does
– Nelson Mandela

Our outreach lead and Beeston first team player, Gareth Griffiths, said: “Our next steps are to deliver 6-12 weeks of regular training sessions over the summer holiday in inner-city Nottingham on Belong’s local park. The aim of this is to make hockey more visible to people in the local area and encourage involvement in our sport. We are calling this team ‘Bees Belong’ which is a fantastic name and really captures the spirit of our partnership. We are hoping that these sessions will drive up a real interest in hockey and encourage people to join Beeston Hockey Club as long term members.”

The partnership has been fantastic and so many great things are happening as a result of it. With this in mind, we need your help.
If you can support this initiative, we would be hugely appreciative. Please bring any items that you wish to donate to the hockey club and we will have a collection for our friends at Belong.
