Following England Hockey’s announcement to extend the suspension of hockey activity until the 30th June it has been confirmed that Beeston men and women have both been crowned Premier Division winners.
The decision taken by the board of England Hockey follows a recommendation from the competitions department and means that Beeston have now qualified for the men’s and women’s Euro Hockey League competition for the 2020/21 season as the number 1 seeded English club.
England Hockey competitions manager, Stephen Barlow, commented, “We are mindful that the integrity of the league is important and we have undertaken a thorough process to deliver a fair and balanced outcome for all teams. We decided that although all fixtures have been played in the Men’s and Women’s Premier Divisions, the simplest way to resolve Euro Hockey League qualification was alphabetical order.”
Brooklands men and Bowdon women will join the Bees in Europe next season as the English second-seeded clubs.
