At what was a competitive Regionals round of the In2Hockey Club competition on 29 April 2018, our U12 Girls outshone their opposition, amassing the highest overall goal tally and only conceding one goal in their 6 games.
Following wins against Repton, Leek and Ludlow in the group stage, the girls faced Stourport in the quarter finals and secured a confident victory.  As the afternoon progressed, the team dominated each and every game and the hockey they played was an absolute pleasure to watch.   Next up was a strong Ashby side.  The Bees held firm, passing the ball around the pitch confidently and maximising their opportunities to score, resulting in another win and a place in the final against Rugby.  The girls’ fitness, skill and belief in each other prevailed and they won their last game of the day comfortably, receiving gold medals, the Midlands trophy and a place in the National Finals at Nottingham Hockey Centre on 12 May 2018.
The girls have been really fortunate to have a committed and dedicated team of coaches behind them every step of the way this season, including Sylvia, Danny, Paige, Jacob, Caitlin, Nicola, Jon and Katy who have all given up hours of their time to challenge and encourage the girls to improve their skills and their understanding of the game.   The entire U12 Beeston Girls Squad of 67 has without doubt contributed to the team’s success and we are so excited to see what the next season brings.
Big thanks to Richard, Jeanne and Dawn for running the tournament so smoothly yesterday and to all our parent volunteers whose help on the day was much appreciated.
