Ladies 3s
A slow start for the Ladies 3s this week, with the team working well together but struggling to finish. Nic Wakeland and Helen Jelley worked well together in short corners with a slap and a deflection to get the scoreboard moving. Unfortunately, captain for the day, Emma Green was unable to add to the goal tally, missing a penalty flick in the first half. With the score 2-0 at half time, the 3s continued a strong defensive performance to keep North Notts at bay, transferring the ball well and leaving goal keeper Sofie with little to do. Some good drives down the pitch, using the width of the pitch well, from Fran Stonier & Emma Weston. An excellent team performance was topped off by further goals from Helen Jelley, Esme Thompson and, of course, Sue Moore. Thank you to Ali Moore & Chris Glover for their support and expertise on the sidelines. (By Emma Green)
Final Score: 7-0 Win

Ladies 4s
A tough game for the Ladies 4s this week, in the freezing cold it took the ladies a while to get into the game. A brave performance saw the scores level at 0-0 at half time. The second half saw the Bees find their stride and allowed them the confidence to push hard. Maddie Croft found the net with a cracking reverse shot, to put the 4s 1-0 ahead. The defence managed to keep Notts Players 1 at bay, keeping the score at 1-0 to the end.
Final Score: 1-0 Win
Next Game: 25th November – Home vs Ashfield Aztecs 1 (3:30pm pushback)

Ladies 5s
Another great performance from the Ladies 5s this week, providing a lesson in how to keep possession. A tight game, with opportunities in the middle for the Bees, Redhill were the first on the scoreboard in the first half. The Bees came out fighting in the second half, earning several short corners, and even a flick. Unfortunately, the 5s were unable to convert their chances and the game finished 1-0. This definitely was not a negative performance from the 5s though, with encouragement and support up and down the pitch. A valiant effort, where, once again, the score line does not reflect the hard work and cohesiveness of the Bees.
Final Score: 1-0 Loss

Ladies 6s
The Ladies 6s continued their unbeaten run, with a stellar performance against Worksop 3s this weekend. Tight on numbers, the emphasis was on possession (“if we’ve got the ball, they can’t score” became the day’s mantra) and making the ball do the work. The Bees worked well together to create 3 first half goals, one from debutant Hannah Rosenbaum and two from Alice Logan on her first full game since returning from injury. The second half continued in a similar, attacking manner, the 6s were unlucky not to find the back of the net again; dominating possession and territory against a more organised Worksop defence. Keeper Anais Olley was left with very little to do throughout the game, with her main duty becoming retrieving the ball for hit outs on the odd occasion the ball came down the Beeston end.
Final Score: 3-0 Win

Ladies 7s
The Ladies 7s again gave everything they had to the game, but unfortunately the Hockey Gods were not in their favour. Returning Bee, Hannah Preston, opened the scoring, but from then on it was one way traffic with SBU putting 5 goals past a hard working Beeston defence. The 7s showed their talent in the middle of the park, and continue to believe the goals will come. To quote Nelson Mandela, our Ladies 7s ‘never lose, they either win or learn’- this season is one for learning!
Final Score: 5-1 Loss
