Ladies 5s (Lost 1-0)
The week the 5s faced tough opposition in Notts Uni 4s. Aiming to keep the score low and maybe pinch a goal themselves, they played well and defended hard, to reach half time at 0-0. A positive attitude in the second half, along with plenty of possession, the Bees were confident they could get a goal. Unfortunately, it was a struggle to get the ball into the Uni’s 23, with the Uni team battling hard. With only a few minutes before the end, the Uni attack slipped past the Bees’ defence and sent the ball past the keeper.

Ladies 6s (won 2-1)
This week saw the Ladies 6s take on NTU 2, who were promoted to Div 2 at the end of last season along with our own Ladies 7s. The game was tougher than anticipated, with NTU putting in a solid show in defence. Eventually, Amie Whelan broke the deadlock with a fantastic strike, to take the lead 1-0 into half time. A little complacent at the start of the second half, and NTU 2 scored a goal to make the score level again. Calls to sharpen up the Bees passing and for more support in the defence were made from across the pitch and that’s exactly what the girls did, feeding the ball to Elsie Birchall who turned and shot, scoring on her debut for Beeston.

Ladies 7s

The 7s tough start to the season continued this week, taking on Woodthorpe- a team that always finish near the top of the table. Captain Jo Illingworth donned the goalie kit and the team set out with the aims of scoring their first goal of the season and doing better than a 10-0 loss. Both aims were achieved, as an unselfish pass in front of goal from Iona Cargill saw Gabby Rozario slot home the 7s first goal of the season. The Bees went in at half time 3-1 down, after a Woodthorpe come back saw them capitalise on an inexperienced defence and part time keeper. A high standard of play continued in the second half, with the Bees making life very difficult for the opposition, including a few breaks of their own. Eventually, Iona found the net again and the game finished 5-2. Another learning opportunity for the 7s, who have been unphased by a difficult run of matches.
