England Hockey Men’s Premier League

Beeston 2 – 3 Holcombe
Nottingham Hockey Centre, 20th November – 12:30pm
Following last weeks cup win against Holcombe the Bees went in to the game with confidence that they could steal some points off a Holcombe side littered with Olympians. However, a Barry Middleton brace helped Holcombe to come from behind against Beeston as they tightened their grip on the top of the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division on Sunday.
Beeston led at the break with goals from England U21 internationals Elliott Hibell in the 5th minute and Chris Proctor in the 18th minute. But it proved to be a game of two halves as Barry Middleton hauled Holcombe back into contention with a goal in the 49th minute.
The comeback continued with a Sam Ward strike in the 51st minute and then Middleton put the visitors ahead in the 61st minute.
There was still drama left in the game as the Bees equalised with five minutes remaining – but after a long chat between the umpires the goal was disallowed.
The Bees travel to Kent next Sunday to face Canterbury in their last game before the indoor hockey season starts. The game takes place at Polo Farm Sports Club, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, CT3 4AF.
