You may have noticed the coaches and managers around the club wearing new Adidas green sweatshirts. But why green?
A decision was taken by the club’s Executive Committee that new sweatshirts would be provided to all the regular coaches and managers throughout the club to help identify them and bring a feeling of togetherness right across the club.
It was agreed that a colour different to the iconic Gold and Black was needed to avoid any confusion when stood on the side lines during matches.
So why green? The colour green was chosen in homage to local hero and Nottingham Forest’s most successful manager, Brian Clough. ‘Cloughie’ wore the iconic green sweatshirt on the training ground and on side line of the City Ground for many years.
Chairman Graham Griffiths commented, “We had much debate about which colour to pick for our coaches and managers sweatshirts and I was insistent on the Cloughie green tops from the start. We talked about it for twenty minutes then we decided that I was right.”
The sweatshirts are part of the new Adidas miTeam range which was launched after the Rio Olympic Games.
