As we move towards the new season the Club are excited to announce the appointment of a Junior Head Coach and Junior Performance Director.
Colin Booth has been appointed Junior Head Coach. Colin is an England Hockey coach educator and is qualified to deliver England Hockey Introduction to Hockey Coaching courses (level 1) and England Hockey Sessional Coaching courses (level 2). Colin is also an England Hockey level 2 coach.
Colin will oversee all junior age-group coaching at the Club. He is keen to implement a support network for the coaches and volunteers. Colin will be introducing a new ‘Coaches Academy’ through the delivery of leadership courses for young people as well as coach education courses for parents and volunteers to become qualified.
Colin commented, “I’m really excited about this appointment. My job is simply to improve the quality and confidence of the coaching teams across the junior age-groups. I’m really looking forward to working closely with the coaches across the junior section of the club and helping them get the best out of the fantastic young players we have playing for us.”
Colin has played for the club in the past and now runs his own successful coaching business. Colin’s children are members of the junior section.
The club is also excited to announce another Colin joining the junior coaching team
Colin Clarke has been appointed Junior Performance Director. Colin is a former Scotland international player with an impressive coaching CV. He has coached Grange Hockey Club Men’s 1st team for 7 years as well as working at international level coaching Scotland U16’s and U18’s, and most recently worked with England U21 and Great Britain U23 ladies squads. He has recently been appointed as Beeston ladies 1st team head coach. Colin is an England Hockey level 4 coach, the highest attainable qualification in England.
Colin will be overseeing the delivery of junior academy’s on Friday evenings, in addition to the key role of helping to identify talented athletes and creating pathways into the elite performance squads at the club. Given his other roles within the national representative squads of England Hockey and our own Ladies 1st XI, he will be well placed to support our young players achieve their ambitions.
