The club provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 6 yrs and 18 yrs to learn to play ‘field’ hockey, to be coached in the whole range of skills necessary to do their best in competitions. The club enters boys and girls teams for the under 10’s and under 12’s County Mini Hockey Championships, and the under 14’s, under 16’s and under 18’s English Hockey National Club Cup. There are also numerous friendly tournaments, festivals and matches from under 9’s to under 18’s for boys, girls and mixed teams; and adult league teams when appropriate.
Our qualified coaches are trained in child protection and have been screened for their suitability for working with young people. These regular coaches supervise all coaching and are all volunteers who receive no payment for all their time and expertise.
We welcome parents to all training and competitions and value your support. We are keen to try and involve parents in the club and you can find out more about the club from this web site, our regular newsletters, the clubhouse notice board and our coaches.

Junior Development
Saturday Hockey
In due course boys and girls progress to the club’s adult teams that play on Saturdays and train during the week. Beeston runs 8 men’s league teams with the 1st XI playing in the National First Division (outdoor) and the National Premier League (indoor), 7 ladies league teams with the 1st XI playing in the England Hockey League, North Conference. . The club has a structured pathway to enable youngsters to progress to higher teams when they are ready and in fact has a national reputation for encouraging junior players in their adult teams. There is a membership fee once juniors progress to regular Saturday hockey.
Club training nights are Wednesdays 8.30-9.30pm for men and Wednesdays 6.30 - 8pm for ladies.
Representational Hockey
We encourage the juniors to seek representational honours at borough, county, regional and national levels when ready. Currently Beeston have male and female junior internationals as well as several regional players and too many county players to mention!
Coaching and Umpiring Opportunities
Older colts are encouraged to gain umpiring and coaching qualifications. They can become involved in the many junior events held at the club as timekeepers, umpires, announcers, stewards and assistant coaches. Several older colts help regularly at Sunday morning / monday night coaching sessions.
Other Opportunities
Juniors are offered other coaching sessions during the summer break including goalkeeping courses and elite academy sessions.
