Pitch Maintainance and Development

As a lot of people will be aware Hockey has come on hugely over the years with the single most important change being the move on to artificial surfaces.  The speed, skill and excitement that Hockey is played  comes with a huge cost.

There are plans being developed at Highfields to maintain and develop the facility, the addition of a third pitch being one of the desires it is planned to re carpet the sand based pitch and the cage.

MORE IMPORTANTLY:

The Water based pitch is showing considerable signs of wear, so much so that the stains on kit are not due to algae but the breakdown of the underlay fabric.  Most pitches have a life span of approximately 10 years, due to the high usage of the Highfields pitch this is going to be shorter.

At present there is a fund raising drive.  Please consider investing on an area of "TURF" that will be yours forever!  All members are encouraged to dig deep and contribute to helping raise money to fiance the recarpetting.  Please talk to Griff or the team at Highfields if you are interested in buying a square.

If the carpet is not replaced top quality hockey will have to move from Highfields.....
